Bible guides – Mark 4:35-5:20 - 20 May 2009 |
|
The previous passage showed that God’s kingdom grows through God’s word (the ’seed’ in Jesus’ parable, see Mark 4:14). This passage reveals more about the power of Jesus’ word, and in the process tells us something about Jesus’ identity.
- What problem arises in verses 35-38? What does Jesus do about it (verse 39)?
- What question do the disciples ask in verse 41? How would you answer it?
- Jesus meets a very strange man in chapter 5. How is this man described in verses 2-5?
- How has this man been transformed by verse 15? How did this transformation happen (verses 8, 13)?
- According to verses 41 and 15, these two episodes produced similar reactions among the onlookers. What was this reaction?
Is this reaction appropriate? Why or why not?
