Kirsty, the Lord calls you to submit to your husband. This does not mean that you are to live in repression and subservience. Rather, you are to reflect the new relationship that God has created between you and Matthew. Matthew is your head, and God has given him responsibility for your new household. By submitting to him as your husband, you will be reflecting the reality of this new relationship. You will find yourself on the path to joy and fulfilment, giving yourself in love to the man whom God has chosen for you. Kirsty, submit to your husband.

Matthew, the Lord calls you to love your wife. You have been a son, and have loved as a son. You have been a brother, and have loved as a brother. You have been a friend, and have loved as a friend. But never before have you been a husband. So you have never loved anyone with the intensity and self-sacrificial commitment with which the Lord now calls you to love the woman he has chosen for you. Matthew, love your wife.

    (Ephesians 5:22-33)
