  • The Faith of Our Fathers - 10 May 2010

Imagine if our 17th-century Reformed forefathers could be transported to a 21st-century British evangelical church. What would they think? What would surprise them about our faith and practice? Would they be delighted or dismayed?

How much have we remained true to our Reformed heritage? Have we grown in maturity, or drifted from our theological moorings? Do we need to recover The Faith of our Fathers?

These are important questions. The evangelical church in the UK is arguably growing faster and thriving more strongly today than at any time in recent history. Yet we always need to be alert to the danger of theological drift.

I’m therefore delighted to announce the forthcoming conference, The Faith of Our Fathers, to be held on 2 October 2010. The conference will be hosted jointly by Emmanuel Evangelical Church and Ecclesia Reformanda.

Our speakers are Robert Letham, lecturer in systematic theology at Wales Evangelical School of  Theology, and Ian Hamilton, minister of Cambridge Presbyterian Church.
